It started with a dinner table.
Not a beautiful one. A table, actually, dressed in whatever was clean and whatever flowers hadn't wilted yet. A few people. Too many dishes. Not enough chairs.
Nobody wanted to leave.
That's when we understood something about hosting. It's not the table. It's never the table. It's the decision to make space for people - to say: tonight, you matter, come over.
We started Rayt because we wanted to make hosting effortless.
Formal glasses felt like they were expecting a different kind of evening. Basic glasses felt like they were apologising for themselves. We wanted something that felt like the host we were trying to be - warm, a little playful, genuinely Indian, not trying to be anything from a catalogue.
So we made it.

What’s a Party Without a little backstory?
We grew up in homes that hosted. Not formally but the kind of hosting where someone always showed up without calling ahead and the kitchen just quietly made space.
When it was our turn, we became the friends people came to. The ones who always had something to pour, always had room at the table, always stayed up talking about something that mattered.
We started Rayt in 2022 with a set of red wine glasses. They clinked through countless dinners, girl-gang catchups, and secret-sharing nights. Maybe that’s when we knew we wanted to make wares that feels like a memory waiting to happen. The ones that happen naturally.
And also a belief that Indian homes deserved something more interesting than what was available, something consciously made, something coloured. Not for formal dining, but for midweek dinners. Not for the shelf. For the table.
We hope our glasses find their way to yours.

Rayt "रेत "

Sanskrit. Hindi. The word for sand.
Not metaphorically but literally. Glass is made from sand. Colour comes from earth. Every Rayt glass started as something ordinary and became something you'll keep for years. We named the brand after that transformation.
Also because every gathering, even the last-minute ones, even the imperfect ones leaves something behind. A story. A feeling. A memory with the texture of something real.
That's the रेत of it. The grain of the moment.
