This is a blog through which i want to introduce you to Rayt. I hate making videos and that's what everyone has been telling me to do. Go be the voice of the brand, go make videos... people need to know who is behind this.. So while i am not coming in front of the camera, not because i don't have anything to say, but because i do it better in writing, or in person. So unless i get to speak to each one of you personally, this is my attempt at reaching out to you all. So you get to know me and Rayt better. i don't believe in becoming the “buy now before we sell out” person in front of the camera, but get to know the real people behind the brand. I want to build a real connection which builds depth, not just dopamine from instagram videos. Read it at your own pace, at your own time.
My name is meenal, most of you would have gotten my handwritten note with your orders. I don't run rayt like a business. Or i should say a traditional business. It's not about making money and spread sheets, and about profitability and loosing margins (Although it should be) but It’s more about… are you happy when you get my glasses? Are you having a nice time with them. Listening to songs when you have a Rayt in your hand. Is it a crowded, convivial dinner table or just a quiet meal for two. I want to know how happy you felt.
Rayt didn’t start as a glassware brand in the traditional sense. It started with family obsessed with having people over. Around 7 was when the house got exciting and the day loosens its grip a little. The evening began and the work tabs closed. People would turn up unannounced. Whatever was made in the house that day would magically cater to everyone who pulled up a chair at that table! And there was ALWAYS room for more. A table made me realise: hosting doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be real. Friends dropping by, tables loaded with food and drinks. Music playing and conversations stretching longer than expected. 7 to me doesn't feel like a formality, like a 9PM dinner seating. That's why maybe i liked it always. Rayt was built around that idea.
Not perfection. Not performance. Just presence.
I want this brand to stand for that kind of effortless hosting. Where you don’t rearrange your entire house or cook a seven-dish meal. The kind where you open the door and say, “Come in” without apologising for anything.
Now that things have become more planned and no one really just drops by anymore, everyone is always “making plans.” My go-to is always “See you at 7”. There’s something about the time maybe. It's stuck in the old world for me. And the name of this blog for the same reason. It feels like an invitation, not an announcement. It doesn’t ask for preparation and its mostly my standard line to all the evenings i have loved.
Hosting doesn't need to be elaborate. It doesn't need to be stressful. It doesn't need a 7 course meal. I remember making a biryani dinner once and forgot about the one non-veg friend who came over, Poor girl had to pickout the mutton pieces and eat only the rice …and yet, no one left hungry. Or early. For me it’s friends sitting longer than planned because no one checked the time.
“See you at 7” is less about the clock and more about the comfort. It’s a small reminder that the best gatherings aren’t scheduled to impress. They’re scheduled because someone wanted to be there. And if Rayt stands for anything, it’s this:
Moments don’t need ceremony to matter. They just need presence.
So this blog is an open door.
No dress codes (i prefer being in pajamas and trackpants), No perfect tables required.
Just ideas, stories, and a seat saved without saying so.
Time for another dinner now, See you at 7!
